Metallics | Spring/Summer Fashion Trends 2013

Metallics are a top trend this SS13. I've seen it everywhere recently; on tops, skirts, dresses, bags and shoes. Metallics are statement pieces as they are certain to grab people's attention! If you're wary of metallics, then incorporating it in your outfit in small doses (such as by wearing metallic shoes or accessories) is a good way to start wearing the trend. They can complete an outfit and add some edge and glam to a simple one. If you love to stand out, then the metallic trend is definitely for you. Here are some of my picks from the highstreet:

4) Kitty Metallic Skater Skirt - Missguided
5) Ted Baker Breen Metallic Wedges - ASOS

Benefit They're Real Mascara | Review

Before I bought the Benefit They're Real Mascara, I'd been wanting to try it out for ages because I'd heard great things about it and wanted to know why it's the UK's No.1 best-selling mascara. So when I found out that Elle Magazine would be giving away a free sample with their magazine this month, I made sure to grab a copy as soon as I could! Today's post is a review of this infamous Benefit mascara.

Firstly, here's what Benefit say: "It's the mascara that's beyond belief! This jet-black mascara lengthens, curls, volumises, lifts & separates lashes for a spectacular "out-to-here" look."

I definitely have to agree with Benefit's description; this mascara really does what it says it will. I was amazed at how long my lashes looked after applying it. I also found the product to be volumising as it left my lashes looking very thick and full. It separates and curls them too, leaving you with a fanned out, false lash effect. I usually prefer mascaras with a soft brush, but the plastic brush that comes with this one is great. It helps separate the lashes and coats them all evenly. It's so good at reaching each lash, even the tricky to get to inner corners. This mascara applies very easily and dries quickly too, leaving you with clump free lashes. I also love its staying power; it lasts all day and doesn't become flaky at all. I have used many mascaras that have smudged by the end of the day, but this one really does stay put so thankfully it doesn't leave you with the dreaded panda eyes!

The only downside of the product is the price tag. The full sized version costs a whopping £19.50, which I do think is pretty steep for a mascara. It may be worth getting the mini version if you want to try it first (it's still free with Elle magazine until the end of this month!).

Overall, I definitely think this is an amazing mascara! It's worth all of the hype it received as it leaves you with lovely long, thick lashes. The full version is available to buy from Boots and ASOS for £19.50.

Have you tried Benefit's They're Real Mascara? What are your thoughts on the product?

MAC Angel Lipstick | Review

MAC Angel Lipstick
After I handed in my dissertation a few weeks ago, I decided I was going to treat myself and bought my first MAC lipstick! After umming and ahhing over which shade to buy, I decided to go for MAC Angel lipstick. Angel is one of MAC'S most popular lipstick shades. It's well known for being a favourite of Kim Kardashian, who pairs this lipstick with the NARS Turkish Delight Lipgloss.

Angel is a soft, light pink shade. It's the perfect everyday colour, which is one of the main reasons why I chose to buy it. I wanted a classic, everyday pink in my lipstick collection and Angel really ticks all of the boxes! I think the colour is pretty versatile and could suit a range of different skin tones and makeup looks. As Angel is a frost lipstick, it does have a shimmer to it and leaves the lips with a nice sheen. However, the shimmer effect is very subtle.

I love the formula of this lipstick. It applies really nicely as it's creamy and smooth. It's also very moisturising, which is great as it doesn't emphasise any dry patches you may have on your lips. It has a really good colour pay off and lasts quite well on the lips too. I also have to say that the vanilla scent Angel has, as well as the other MAC lipstick shades, smells lovely!

Overall, MAC's Angel is one of my favourite lipsticks and has now become a staple for me. I will definitely be repurchasing this when it runs out. If you're looking for the perfect everyday pink then this is worth trying! You can buy it from Debenhams for £14 with free delivery.

Do you own this lipstick? What's your favourite MAC lipstick shade?

Bourjois Magic Nail Polish Remover | Review

Bourjois Magic Nail Polish Remover

The Bourjois Magic Nail Polish Remover is one of those products that was massively hyped up and raved about. I'm very late on the bandwagon with this one but as I find removing nail polish such a chore, I finally decided to try this out.

The product is very simple to use and requires no cotton wool. All you have to do is put your finger in the sponge, twist it and remove. It claims to instantly remove your nail polish. So does it really take just one second? No, it doesn't. It takes around 10-15 seconds per nail depending on the type of nail polish you're wearing. However, this doesn't bother me at all; it's still a lot quicker than using the traditional nail polish remover with cotton wool.

One of the things I love about the product is the smell. It leaves your nails with a red fruit and vanilla fragrance, which smells a lot nicer than your average nail polish remover. I also like how my nails feel very soft and smooth after using this; it really hydrates and nourishes them. The formula is enriched with sweet almond oil, contains no acetone and is paraben free.

Overall, I love this product and wish I had tried it sooner. If, like me, you're a little bit lazy when it comes to removing nail polish, then this product may be great for you. It saves a lot of time and hassle and is very simple to use. I also think that this would be very handy for travelling as it's portable and you don't need any cotton wool. I'll definitely be repurchasing this again when it runs out. You can buy it from Boots for £4.99.

Have you tried the Bourjois Magic Nail Polish Remover? What did you think of it?

Essie Tour De Finance Nail Polish | Review

Tour De Finance Essie Nail Polish
Although I've bought a few more since, Tour De Finance was the very first Essie polish I purchased. I decided to buy it as I'd heard so many positive things about Essie polishes and really wanted to try one myself. Tour De Finance is a gorgeous fuchsia shade with a subtle blue and purple shimmer. I love this shade as I think it's perfect all year round for whenever you feel like adding a pop of colour to your nails. It's the perfect bright pink and I've found myself reaching for it a lot in recent days.

I think the formula is great; the nail polish has a smooth, creamy texture. I love the wide brush on Essie polishes as it makes painting your nails effortless because of the ease of application. I found Tour De Finance to be very quick drying and it only took two coats until it was completely opaque. It lasted well on my nails as it is very chip resistant, which is always a plus.

Overall, I'm really glad I bought this nail polish. I love the colour and am really impressed with the quality of Essie polishes. Tour De Finance is available to buy from lookfantastic.com with free delivery.

Have you tried Essie's Tour De Finance? What are your thoughts on Essie polishes?
